Cabrini High School
St. Mary Catholic Central High School
The Cabrini Varsity Girls Soccer team traveled to Monroe for a non-league match against the Kestrels of St. Mary Catholic Central High School.
On another cold and windy afternoon, these two teams would offer the fans at Paul & Lynn Rosenbrook Field an excellent soccer match.
Although the weather was less than desirable, the field conditions were excellent and both teams were ready to play. The Monarchs took control early with multiple shots and scoring opportunities on the Kestrel goal keeper, but it was St. Mary that would score first and take a 1 – 0 lead into halftime.
The second half would be more of the same with excellent runs and soccer play by both teams. Cabrini would even the match at the 17:10 mark of the 2nd half with a goal by freshman Abigail Formella assisted by fellow freshman, Hannah Cieglo.
The last 10 minutes of the match saw runs by both teams and some big stops by the Monarch’s senior keeper, Abigail Burke.
After a hard fought battle by both the Monarchs and the Kestrels, the match ended in a
1 – 1 tie.
The Monarchs travel to Wisner Stadium on Thursday for a 7 pm match against Our Lady of the Lakes.
