Meet Recap

The girls track team had their best finish at regionals since Coach Chris Gawel started as an assistant coach ten seasons ago. The lady monarchs placed in the top half of the field with a 9th place finish and 26.5 points. Leading the girls was Mikayla Trumbla with a third in the 100 meter dash and a 6th in the high jump. She helped Angelina Yglesias, Grace Sabo, and Sofie Strombom earn a medal in the girls 4 x 400 medal with a 7th place finish. Lindsey Bollinger and Yglesias took 5th in the long jump and 200, respectively. Paige Perkins scored in the shot put with her 7th-place finish. The 4 x 100 relay team of Lena Hazimeh, Bollinger, Angela Thomson, and Yglesias took 4th while the 4 x 200 relay team of Hazimeh, Sabo, Strombom, and Yglesias tied for 8th.

Game Recap

The Monarchs completed a grueling 12 games in 11 days with a victory over Detroit Country Day. Both Country Day and Cabrini had scoring chances early on. Country Day broke thru scoring 2 in the top of the 5th. The Monarchs answered with 1 run in the bottom of the 5th, then tied the game in the 6th. With 2 outs in the 7th, runners on 2nd and 3rd and a full count, freshman MacKenzie Schick laced a single down the right field line for the victory.

Allison Wilk was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI, MacKenzie Schick 1 for 4 wth 1 RBI, Montana Spears 1 for 3, and Hannah Lipka 1 for 3 with 1 RBI.

Vivianna Gonzalez gave up 8 hits, 2 K’s and no walks.

Game Recap

The Monarchs came out strong scoring 2 runs in the first and added 3 more in the second to hold on to a 5-1 lead over Regina. However, in the bottom of the 3rd the Monarchs gave up 8 runs on 6 walks. The Monarchs closed the gap in the top of the 4th scoring 2 making it 7-8. Regina added 2 more in the 5th and 5 in the 6th to end Cabrini’s run in the CHSL playoffs.
Montana Spears was 2 for 4 with 5 RBI’s which included a homerun, Doree Arevalo 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and Samantha Corvaia was 1 for 3.

Meet Recap

The Girls’ Varsity Tennis team defeated Jewish Academy 6-2 this past Monday.

Jewish Academy defaulted 3 and 4 doubles flights giving the Monarchs an early lead. The rest of the doubles teams quickly won with Senior Kaitlin LeVesseur and Junior Alexis Roa winning at #1 doubles (6-1, 6-0) and Junior Paulina Alonte and Sophomore Erin Renaud winning at #2 (6-2, 6-2).

Sophomore Maria Cyr and Freshman Bridget Villarreal secured the team win edging out their singles opponents in close matches each determined by a third set tiebreaker. Cyr won at #2 singles (6-3, 6-7, 10-5) and Villarreal defeated her opponent at #3 singles (6-4, 2-6, 10-8).

Meet Recap

The Girls Varsity Tennis team defeated Bishop Foley 5-3 this evening.

Earning wins on the singles side were Sophomore Maria Cyr (6-2, 6-3) at #1 singles; Freshman Bridget Villarreal (6-4, 6-3) at #2 singles; and Freshman Francesca Tucci (6-1, 5-7, 12-10) at #4 singles.

Juniors Alexis Roa and Paulina Alonte were victorious after a close match at #1 doubles (6-3, 6-7, 13-11), and Sophomores Gabrielle Martin and Erin Renaud brought home the win at #2 doubles (6-3, 6-1).

The girls will play in the Regional tournament tomorrow morning at Ann Arbor Greenhills.

Game Recap

The Monarchs traveled to Shrine to take on the Knights. Cabrini started the game with a 3 run first inning, then exploded for 15 runs in the second to secure the victory. Montana Spears went 3 for 3, Holly Kimes went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and Hannah Lipka was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s. Freshman MacKenzie Schick helped the cause going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s

On the mound freshman Vivianna Gonzalez gave up 5 hits, had 3 k’s, and gave up 1 BB.

Game Recap

The Monarchs exploded in the 1st inning scoring 4 runs and added 8 in the second and 3 in the third in defeating Bishop Foley 15-3 in a non conference game. Robin Sprys was 3 for 3 with 4 RBI’s which was capped off by a 3 run home run. MacKenzie Schick (2 RBI’s) and Vivianna Gonzalez (3 RBI’s) both went 3 for 3. Holly Kimes was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Montana Spears went 1 for 3 which included a solo home run.

Meet Recap

The boys equaled the girls team standings, both coming in 15th place in the Inaugural Metro Classic. The boys ended up with 15 points, earning scores from Thomas Banghart who came in third in the 110 M Hurdles. He is now the 5th fastest Cabrini hurdler with a time of 16.15. He took 6th in the 300 hurdles with a personal best time. Honorable mention goes to the 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 teams who posted major improvements and set themselves up for good marks at regionals.

Meet Recap

The track team took 15th place out of the 22-team field. Scoring for the Lady Monarchs were Mikayla Trumbla with 7th place in the high jump and Lindsey Bollinger with an 8th place personal record in the long jump. Honarable mentions go to the relay teams who came up with big personal records that set them up well for regionals on Friday.
