Monarchs News · Evan Trohimczyk Qualifies for State Finals!


MHSAA Regional, Whitmore Lake, Mich. – The Cabrini Track and Field team took on one of the biggest meets of the year with their eyes set on going to states.

The boys were highlighted by Evan Trohimczyk tying for second place in the high jump to qualify for state finals. The distance runners posted solid performances for the boys, including Dylan Ortiz running a 4:57.79 in the 1600m as well as 10:51.66 in the 3200m, to take fifth place in both events. Michael Graf took sixth place in the 800m with a time of 2:11.29. The sprinters rounded out the night with Adam Hamid taking fourth place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.11. Jacksen Kamen took fourteenth in the 200m with a time of 25.16 while Joe Misovich took fourteenth in the 400m running a 60.60. Throws also concluded with Noah Hamid taking sixth place in shot put with a throw of 36-09.75 and  seventh place in discus with a throw of 111-02.

The 4x400m boys relay, consisting of Jacksen Kamen, Maximiliano Iglesias, Dylan Ortiz and Michael Graf took recorded a time of 3:52.56 taking sixth place. The 4x800m boys relay placed fifth as Dylan Ortiz, Mitchell Russelburg, Jimmy Hao and Michael Graf combined for a time of 9:40.79.

The girls were highlighted by Mikayla Trumbla finishing seventh in the 100m with a time of 13.60 and eleventh in the 400m with a time of 1:11.05. In the 800m, Alana Maffesoli recorded a 2:51.76 while Meghan Carr recorded a 6:43.43 in the 1600m. The sprinters rounded out the day as Angelina Yglesias recorded a time of 29.70 in the 200m and Mary Deziewit recorded a 22.18 in the 100m hurdles.

The girls field events were highlighted by Ava Hazimeh taking sixth place in discus with a throw of 84-06. Alana Maffesoli took twelth in shot put with a throw of 24-10. Finishing in fifth place in the long jump was Lena Hazimeh (14-01.25) and ninth place was Grace sabo (13-02).

The girls relays were rounded out by Mary Dziewit, Sophie Stombom, Alana Maffesoli and Angelina Yglesias putting together a time of 4:52.18 in the 4x400m relay. The 4x100m relay team of Lena Hazimeh, Angelina Yglesias, Mary Deziewit and Mikayla Trumbla took sixth with a time of 54.30. The 4x800m relay team of Meghan Carr, Catherine Day, Yoselin Duran and Ava Hazimeh finished with a time of 12:46.75.
