The Cabrini Girls Varsity soccer team hosted a CHSL Division 3 match against Cardinal Mooney on Thursday.
As was the case during their first match, Mooney took control early scoring two goals and putting the Monarchs in an early hole. Mooney’s 2-0 lead would hold up through the first half.
Cabrini came out in the second half determined to get back into the game. Senior Madison Sukel would put the Monarchs on the board with a goal assisted by fellow senior, Sydney DeBlander. Mooney would answer soon afterward with another goal and lead the home team, 3 to 1.
Junior Gabriella Teems would move Cabrini to within one on a goal assisted by sophomore, Abigail Formella. Teems would tie the game late in the second half with her second goal, unassisted on a free kick.
Time would run out for the Monarchs to complete a comeback and the match would end in a 3 to 3 tie.
The Monarch’s CHSL Division 3 season would end with 10 wins, 0 losses, and 1 tie.
Next up for Cabrini is a non-league match against Livonia Clarenceville at Clarenceville High School on Friday, May 11th at 6 pm.
