Boys Varsity Baseball · Baseball Opens League Play with a Win

The Monarchs opened up league play with a doubleheader at home against Everest Collegiate. The team rallied late to win the first game 6-1 and the 2nd game was suspended after the 6th inning at a 2-2 tie. The Monarchs were led by a dominant pitching performance by senior Camden Brzys in Game 1, who pitched 6 1/3 innings with 7 strikeouts while only allowing 1 hit. In the second game, junior Jimmy Fister got the nod and pitched 6 innings with 9 strikeouts.
Offensively the team was led by sophomore Nick Ballas who had 4 hits and 2 RBI’s on the day. Other contributors were juniors Jimmy Fister and Alex Nealey who both had 3 hits and 2 RBI’s a piece.
The Monarchs play again away at Canton Prep on Thursday evening at 4:30 pm, followed by a league doubleheader away at Detroit Cristo Rey on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
