The Monarchs competed in the Huron Invitational Saturday 9/16/2017.
The girls finished 11th out of 13 teams for the division 2, 3 and 4 race. Senior Sydney DeBlander medaled with a 23rd place finish and time of 21:22. Additional scorers for the Monarchs were Angelina Yglesias (45th place, 22:45), Erin O’Neill (56th place, 23:25), Lena Hazimeh (81st place, 25:15), and freshman Alana Maffesoli (82nd place, 25:19).
The boys finished 12th out of 15 teams and were led by medalist Michael Graf who ran his personal best time of 18:06 and a 30th place finish. Right behind him was Mitchell Russelburg (40th place, 18:19), and freshman Dylan Ortiz (50th place, 18:39). Adam Berthume (22:24) and Matt Solodon (22:53) rounded out the score with 111th and 115th finishes.
Even though the field was competitive, 7 out of 17 runners ran their personal best times and 15 out of 17 runners ran their season best times.
The Monarchs run again Saturday September 24th at the Monroe Jefferson Invitational at Sterling State Park at 10:00 am.
