On Saturday, the Monarchs competed in the Mt. Morris Invitational at EA Johnson High School.  Although the team started at a slow pace in the early morning matches, Cabrini fought through the slow start and finished 2nd as they lost in the finals to the host school Mt. Morris.
Cabrini opened the tourney in pool play losing to Mt. Morris 19-25 and 13-25.  In the second match of pool play, the Monarchs split with Valley Lutheran 10-25 and 25-16.  The third match saw Cabrini splitting with Bad Axe 6-25 and 20-25.  After the completion of pool play, the Monarchs were seeded 7th in the gold playoffs where they came up against 2nd seeded Rudolf Steiner.
The Monarchs took control early out scoring Steiner 25-10 and 25-11.  Their winning ways continued through the heat and humidity when a re-match occurred with Valley Lutheran in the semi-finals.  Cabrini came out on fire and defeated Valley 25-18 and 25-17 which set up the finals match against Mt. Morris.
It was a back and forth battle and the heat took its toll on the Monarchs as they fell to Mt. Morris for a second time during the tourney.  Cabrini brought home a second place trophy and individual medals for the valiant efforts throughout the day.
Arden Fuchs led the way offensively with 55 kills followed by Gabby Martin with 45 kills and Sydney Molter with 21 kills.  At the service line, Cabrini was led by Erin Renaud who served at 97% and Maria Holder who served at 96%.
Congratulations Cabrini on another successful tournament!!
